| Notes | ['In november 1883 Hélène Stökl, living in Vienna, and being "ziekelijk en behoeftig" [words of B.T.] wrote in a letter to the author that she had read `Majoor Frans\' and wanted to write an article about her. B.T. sent her more information in french and german, though she usually did not answer these questions; she told Mrs Stökl to get in contact with C.A. Wilkens (who also lived in Vienna). \r\n\r\nTo Wilkens B.T. wrote (28-1-1884) `Mevr. Stökl niet bij U teregt kunnende probeert het nu op een andere manier en vroeg mij onder anderen het Albumvers van Ebers. Alsof E. mijne reputatie moest maken! Doch omdat ik haar nogal lief vind heb ik aan haar verzoek voldaan.\' \r\n\r\nBut later (12-9-1884) she wrote Wilkens: `Van die Frau Stökl hoorde ik sinds niet meer - zij heeft mij last aangedaan voor niets - en zich er vermoedelijk afgemaakt.\''] |
