Hilma Pylkkänen lost her parents in an early age. When she was 11 -years old she started studying in the Swedish girls’ school in Helsinki and soon forgot her mother tongue. She lived for a long time in Paris and her first novel was published in a much-valued magazine in France. Her second novel became famous because it was translated to German, too. Helmi Krohn/Setälä translated her from French to Finnish. JWapr14
