The family lived in Estonia 1924-44, when the husband of Aino Thauvón-Suits, poet Gustav Suits, got a professorate at Tarto university. The family fled to Finland and later to Sweden because of the occupation of the Soviet army. Poet Eino Leino was a friend of Aino Thauvón-Suits and his husband. He stayed in their home in Helsinki.
