Mentioned in Suomen kirjallisuushistoria I
Isa Asp was the first female writer writing in Finnish. She was born in a Swedish speaking family but become a Fennoman in the teacher’s seminar in Jyväskylä. As a young girl she wrote her own magazines and later she was teacher for her younger siblings. She also studied in a swedish private school for girls. In Jyväskylä she became a praised poet who was often used in celebrations. Many of her poems were love poems dedicated for her female friends, and even quite openly erotic. She was also skillful in using shape in her poems. Asp died in tuberculosis at an early age. Suomen kirjallisuushistoria I, 311-312. JWapr14
