Ekaterina Nencheva's father was a medic, who took part in the Aprilskoto Vyzstanie (Revolution in April)(1876) and Russo-Turkish War(1877-1878). He died in 1902 in Nikopol and this fact seriously affected the family. Next year at the same time Ekaterina's 15 years old brother killed himself. These tragic events put a heavy imprint on the soul of the future poet. All her life she had been traveling a lot because of his father and then her husband's profession. She worked as a teacher in Kustendil, Nova Zagora, Pazardzhik, Tyrgovishte, Haskovo, Rila. In Vraca she was sick and came back to Plovdiv, where she died of tuberculosis one year later.

She started writing a poetry at the age of 14. She was keen on poetry of Lermontov, Heine, Byron. As a student she published in magazines "'Letopisi"'/Çhronicles'',''Demokraticheski pregled'',"'Obshto delo'' and especially in ''Misyl''/"Democratic Review," "General Affairs" and especially in "Thought" (a nickname Velerina). In 1909 she published his first and only poetry book "Snowflakes". During her illness in the print magazine "'Syvremenna misyl''/"Modern Thought" and "Listopad"/"Falling Leaves". Some of the poems are published after her death. Basic patterns in her poetry are love and death. Most of the poems are imbued with a sad mood, expression of tragic fate and sensitivities of the author.
