Provisional Notes | [Info AvB, march 2008] There is very little information about Mary Shackleton readily available on the internet. She was the daughter of the master of the school in Ballitore, a village in County Kildare founded by the Quakers in the 1700s. She married William Leadbeater, a former pupil and teacher at the school. In her diaries, 45 of them, she describes the Quaker life and characters in Ballitore. |
