Very much appreciated by the end of the 19th century in The Netherlands for her books on religious issues. geloofsproblematiek. Often compared to George Eliot. (Jacqueline Bel, 1993, p. 146) Campaigner against women's voting. Founding president of the Women's National Anti-Suffrage League. -- Seems to have sent in a nomination to award the Nobel Prize in Literature to George Meredith (1828-1909) in 1902. Nominations could only be made by a qualified, invited group of people (e.g. members of academies, university professors, presidents of representative author societies). Ward was selected for being a "Member of the Council of the Incorporated Society of Authors" [see link] - KLK 1904 KLK 1915
