Fanny Tavaststjerna met Vera Hjelt in a boarding house kept by Fanny's aunt, Maria Tavaststjerna. Vera Hjelt and Fanny Tavaststjerna become friends and they rented an apartment together. The place was called Höyläämö ("planin mill") and other roommates were Fanny Calamnius, Meri Toppelius, Nanny Hammarström and Alta Dahlgren. (Information from book " Vera Hjelt, työväensuojelija".)
