Born A Coruna (Galicia, Spain) in 1861, she married the Polish philosopher Wincenty Lutoslawski in 1887 and thereafter lived principally in Poland, with shorter periods in England (London), Russia (Kazan), Estonia (Tallinn) and Spain (Madrid, A Coruna). Renowned as a poet from the 1870s; part of Madrid circle around Echegaray and Campoamor. Between 1870s and 1914 establishes herself as a poet, novelist and essayist, and continues publishing in Spain from her base in Poland (Krakow, Warsaw). In 1915, she is appointed East European correspondent of the Spanish daily newspaper "ABC" (Madrid), and publishes over 800 columns before retirement in 1936. Publishes two volumes of essays as eyewitness to Russian Revolution in St Petersburg in 1917/18, and a further volume as eyewitness to German invasion of Warsaw in 1939.
