Arpiainen was born in a proletariat family (in Pieksämäki) , but was able to go to school and later to the seminar for teachers in Jyväskylä. She worked as a teacher until she travelled to China to do missionary work. She was a pioneer in the women’s mission work in Finland. She stayed in China more than 20 years. Jwapr14 - No VIAF.
