She is known mostly as a translator, but she published also "methodological notes" to coursebook of Swedish, and minor didactic texts for/about children. She edited the forth volume of the collected writings of her first husband, the writer Johannes Linnankoski.

In 1899, Ester Peltonen married the Finnish Neo-Romantic Writer Vihtori Peltonen, known under his pseudonym of Johannes Linnankoski. After his death, Ester Peltonen changed her surname into Linnankoski. In 1921, she married another celebrity of the Finnish cultural and political life, the writer, journalist and parliament member Yrjö Koskelainen. - vc
