The first female newspaper editor in Norway (1885-86, Varden, Skien), journalist and author of popular fiction from 1877 onwards. Had a publisher's contract that required her to deliver 800 pages per year, for the sum of Nkr 500. Feminist and politically active on the left (from liberal to communist). Was awarded a small state pension in 1918.
Wrote for Verdens Gang.
Had visited England and learnt English, translator from English
Was very influenced by reading John Stuart Mill.
